Robinson invades Eldora for Intercontinental Classic
After promoters and race officials were forced to postpone the 50th annual World 100 to 2021, Kent Robinson was one of 48 Late Models invited to Eldora Speedway (Rossburg, Ohio) on Thursday evening to take part in the Intercontinental Classic. Following the 11th fastest time overall in qualifying, Robinson slipped back to an eighth place outing in his heat, sending him into the B-Main for another shot at the opening night feature. 1For another $10,000-to-win preliminary feature on Friday, Kent logged an eighth place finish in his heat, transferring him into the B-Main. Needing to place third or better to make the A-Main, Robinson fell two spots short with a fifth place outing.
With preliminary results from Thursday and Friday setting the grid for the heat races on Saturday, Robinson rolled off seventh for another shot at the $50,000-to-win Intercontinental Classic. Dropping one spot to finish eighth, Kent had one last shot at the main event with a B-Main apperance. Marching through the field to pick up the 15-lap victory, Kent earned the 20th-starting position for the main event. Running into trouble near the late-stages of the 67-lapper, Robinson was one of several cars that experienced terminal motor troubles.
